## Key takeaways

- 18 October 2026: Javier Pastore would be in talks with Julián Álvarez to become his agent and pitch him to Paris Saint-Germain.
- Álvarez had publicly expressed his desire to join Barcelona during the World Cup, with no concrete transfer thereafter.
- Barça would not be planning to reopen an offer for Álvarez this winter, leaving the player with no clear short-term solution.
- Luis Campos, the sporting director tied to the previous negotiations, would hold a grudge after Álvarez’s summer choice for Barcelona, which could complicate a PSG arrival.
- There is no official announcement from PSG, Javier Pastore, or Julián Álvarez confirming an agent mandate or an offer at this time.

The name of [Julián Álvarez](/en/tag/juli%C3%A1n%20%C3%A1lvarez), the Argentine striker, is once again linked to Paris Saint-Germain through an unconventional route: [Javier Pastore](/en/tag/javier%20pastore), the club’s former playmaker, would discuss with the Argentine to become his agent and negotiate a potential transfer to [PSG](/en/tag/psg).

## A personal approach with sporting implications

The reported approach rests on discussions between Julián Álvarez and Javier Pastore aimed at entrusting Pastore with an agency role. If the operation were to succeed, he would propose Álvarez to Paris Saint-Germain. The information specifies that this initiative comes after a period of uncertainty for the Argentine attacker, who had already been at the center of a turbulent off-season.

## Possible obstacles on the Paris side

[Luis Campos](/en/tag/luis%20campos), PSG’s sporting director at the time of the previous negotiations, would hold a vivid memory of the period when the club courted the Argentine and Álvarez expressed a preference for Barcelona. The history of the relationship between the club and the player could therefore complicate the acceptance of an offer presented by Javier Pastore. Pastore’s role, a former player who was well-liked at the club and the club’s first major signing of the Qatari era, adds a personal dimension to this attempt at representation, but does not guarantee the Parisian decision-makers’ buy-in.

## What is known and what remains to be confirmed

The circulating elements indicate talks between Álvarez and Pastore to establish an agent-player relationship, the absence of an Barcelona offer for the winter, and the possible reluctance of the Parisian management tied to the summer’s previous events. The practical details — timing of a potential deal, transfer fee, and the official position of PSG or Álvarez on representation by Pastore — are not specified.
